I stated posting my “flying” pictures here. If you have any great ones, do share :)
I’ve been posting my pics to tumblr. I wish WordPress made it as easy to send mobile posts.
today I drove around the city in a “go car”, a GPS guided tour scooter. I had a great time and highly recommend this when you have guests in town!
San Francisco by one of my coworkers, SK Kim, on his first days in California.
I get to be a tour guide this memorial day weekend for my parents, who are staying for a week. I’ll get to re-explore the joys of Golden Gate Park, Fisherman’s Wharf, and my Dad’s favorite: China Town.
I love this program by Colorwar2008, where people submit pictures of themselves “then” and “now”. I could browse these comparisons all day! I particularly like those pictures which have the same setting– usually their parent’s home– which contrasts the stability and consistency of “home” with the uncontrollable reality of growing up.
Statistics can feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or 410,000 paper cups used every fifteen minutes.
Artist Chris Jordan is known for his enormous photographs which visually examine consumerism and social issues in [...]
I’ve posted my pictures from Thailand:
Koh Phangan
Koh Samui
Bangkok
Thailand is the most beautiful, and affordable, country I’ve ever been to. The Thai take such pride in being great hosts, so much so that it is difficult to find them out of ‘hosting’ mode and in leisure situations. The tourism industry is enormous, particularly in [...]
I’m starting to get quite the collection of “flying” photos around the world…
I had the opportunity to actually ride one of these gentle and majestic animals. Notice, this one is a female (no tusks).
give a cat fancy feast, and he’ll never want to go back to dry food.
lickin’ his paws.
I’m still convinced that beer is disgusting, but at least this one matched my dress.
the one on the left warns about a homeless person who has been sleeping in the lobby. the one on the right informs tenants that the area contains chemicals known to cause cancer and birth defects. wow, no thanks
bon iver at the independent:
bon iver is like a more musical and sensitive jack johnson, with catchy acoustic ballads and deep, emotional lyrics that are raw, moving, and beautiful. they’re also from the midwest (Wisconson), where the lead singer spent three months alone in a cabin composing their new album.
today I was stopped by the commotion of a protest. it’s the 5-year anniversary of the war.
non violent protesters laid down across market street– stopping traffic for the afternoon. many people were arrested, including the nun pictured below.

this is a poster from one of the middle school teams from the World Affairs Competition. I had an incredible time volunteering as a judge for this event. the world savvy organization is a non-profit that works to fill a gap in education by providing resources for teachers to more easily bring [...]
“line these pants with crisco, when i dance the disco” -leslie hall
I love gem sweaters as much as the next girl. In fact, every holiday I scour the thrift store isles for that so-kitschy-it’s-fabulous sweater to put over leggings and rock to the ugly-sweater holiday party. But by late December, the ‘good ones’ have already [...]
I coincidentally spent International Women’s Day with other female bloggers at a conference hosted by Yahoo’s new womens site, Shine (not yet open the public). Shine will be a female-centric online magazine that pulls content from bloggers, publishers, and a small staff of editors. Check out the business week article here.
The conference brought [...]
I felt a surprising bite of sentiment when the 18-wheeler took my car away– back to Ohio where SUVs belong. I had been plotting this break-up plan between the car and I for quite some time The insurance. The gas prices. The never-ending pile of parking tickets. It just wasn’t working [...]
One of my very close girlfriends from high school is moving to SF from Chicago. She works for Bank of America and is being transferred here to work closer to moi on April 1st (just in time for bay2breakers and all the other amazing SF festivals). She’s currently looking for places in Nob Hill / [...]

Not sure why I start every video with “here we are…”. I think I got that from Blair. Anyhow, here are two quick videos I took this week.
And my pictures are uploaded here!
